Fourth of July celebrations are usually highlighted by parades and parties. And on these events, people in Uncle Sam costumes are commonplace.
He was introduced in history during the War of 1812. He was the US troops' meat supplier from Troy, New York named Samuel Wilson. He became the national personification of the United States when the troops joked that the meat stamped with the initials U.S. was in reference to him.
Uncle Sam inspired costumes for women have more variety. It could be a sexy ensemble of tight fitting red and white shorts, blue jacket with star printed lapels, red boots with a white star on a blue accent, and of course the red and white hat. Or it could be a conservative long red & white colonial inspired dress with a Betsy Ross cap.
All these Uncle Sam costumes also come in sizes suitable for children. So, if you can dress up your kids with these outfits, complete with old glory top hats for boys and Betsy Ross cap for girls.
Celebrating Independence Day is a way of expressing our nationalism. What better way to show our patriotism than to celebrate it as Uncle Sam?
