When it comes to choosing Halloween costumes it seems as though Buzz Lightyear, Woody, and Jessie are perfect selections because it's like their characters were drawn for the occasion. You would be hard pressed to to find a film that inspired more Halloween outfits than the animated Toy Story.
A Different Look at Toy Story Costumes
Of course, Toy Story costumes don't need to be limited to the three most well known characters. These are some lesser known players that would make excellent Toy Story costumes:
Little Bo Beep
As you might guess from her name, this toy is inspired by Little Bo Beep. A Sheriff Woody and Bo Beep costume would work excellently for couples because she is Woody's love interest in the first film. A shepherdess outfit, coupled with bloomers, a shepherd's hook, and a bonnet, are all you need to look like Bo Peep from Toy Story. It's possible to find these costume elements at a thrift store or vintage shop in your area.
Hamm I Am
Hamm is considered by many to be the star of the original Toy Story film. He is a toy piggy Bank with a cork on his stomach and a coin slot on his back. It's possible to purchase a pre-made Hamm Toy Story costume online or at retail shops. But you could easily make one yourself with a really loose pink sweatsuit and cartoon pig mask.
Try Mr. Potato Head
Everybody knows about the Mr. Potato Head toy. It's a large plastic potato with interchangeable parts that are very colorful. As far as Toy Story costumes, he makes an excellent one! You can get quite creative with Mr. Potato head and all the possibilities his many parts present.
And, for girls, Mrs. Potato Head is a great Toy Story costume choice. She looks similar to Mr. Potato Head, with more feminine looking features. Again, Mrs. Potato Head Toy Story costumes are a great way to show off your creative side!
Sarge
Everyone remembers the leader of the green plastic toy soldiers, Sarge. His character is still quite popular and it's simple to copy his green army uniform for a one of a kind Toy Story costume.
Whether you go with Bo Peep, Mr. Potato Head, Sarge or Hamm, you're sure to have a hot and unique Toy Story costume. Why would you want to be like everyone else and blend in with the crowd as Buzz Lightyear, Woody or Jessie when you could be the life of the party as your own creation?
