Bunny costumes are popular in the spring around Easter time and can also be used during the fall for Halloween costumes. You may even want to be the March Hare from Alice in Wonderland this year.
Many people begin the bunny costume using a gray set of sweats. Using sweats allows you to make a no sew costume. If you find a sweat shirt that has a hood and no zipper, your work is even easier.
Ears can also be made with the fusible web. The outer part of the ear should match the material of the sweats and the inner ear should match the belly. If you want stiff ears that stand up, they can be attached to an inexpensive hair band and slits cut through the hood to allow the ears to poke out. The inner and outer ear should both be attached to an interfacing using the fusible web. Floppy ears do not need the interfacing and can be attached directly to the hood.
The bunny tail can be made from a large white pompom purchased at a craft store. If you cannot find the pompom, make your own using white yarn. Wrap the yarn around a four inch piece of cardboard approximately 100 times. Carefully slide the yarn off of the cardboard and tie tightly with another piece of yarn in the center. Cut the loops and trim to a ball shape and attach to the seat of the sweat pants.
Use face makeup to add whiskers to the persons face and a black nose. The best way to make costumes appear authentic is to have the right attitude and you will be judged to be one of the best Easter bunny costumes at the party.
